Saving the Baltic Sea – Submit your proposal by the end of September

Baltic Sea needs active people and innovative solutions. Submit your project proposals for the Baltic Sea Project by 30th of September!

In August, Solved and The Bank of Åland organized Solving the Baltic Sea seminar at Allas Sea Pool. The focus of the seminar was to discuss the challenges facing the Baltic Sea and interesting new solutions for improving its state.

Special attention was paid to new digital innovations that drive change in consumer behaviour and bring new business for companies involved in the pursuit for a healthier Baltic Sea. The multidisciplinary crowd of participants included experts and Baltic Sea enthusiast from companies, third sector as well as governmental organisations.

After opening remarks from Solved’s EVP Santtu Hulkkonen the evening kicked off with a key note from Anne-Maria Salonius about The Baltic Sea Project and the Åland Index, which is a Cannes Lions winning initiative linking carbon footprint measurement to clients’ online banking experience and encouraging more sustainable consumption choices.

Anne-Maria Salonius strongly urged companies to carry their responsibility for the environment and communities that their business depends on, which is the driving force behind The Bank of Åland’s long-term commitment to improving the state of the Baltic Sea.

The Baltic Sea Project had grown in size annually since 2015 and last year 9 great projects out of 140 applicants were selected to receive a total of 200.000€ in funding. This year the jury is looking forward to receiving high quality proposals with a particular emphasis on fresh digital innovations that have potential for global scalability.

There’s still time to get your project funded. For everyone who has a good project idea that can help save the Baltic Sea, please submit your application by 30th September at www.balticseaproject.org/en/ for a chance to win funding. Up to €400.000 will be distributed among project ideas in the call of 2017.
